Ruud Krol comments on Pirates and PSL title race

In a gritty clash, Thulasizwe Mbuyane snatched an injury time equaliser for Bucs following Kaizer Motaung Junior's 11th minute opener. Final Score Kaizer Chiefs 1 , Orlando Pirates 1.

The result reinstalled Pirates on top of the Premiership log, ahead of Ajax Cape Town on goal difference, while Chiefs remain third just two points behind.

Ruud Krol

And Krol admits there is little to separate the frontrunners.

"We have eight matches to go and there are still four candidates who can win the title," he told Football365.co.za.

"Ajax are always dangerous and have been playing well but nothing will be decided until the end of the season."

Reflecting on the Soweto derby, Krol was pleased to salvage a point which stretched his team's unbeaten run to 14 games.

"You need some luck but my team plays until the end and the fighting spirit was exceptional," he said.

"I think we started the game a bit nervous but it happens sometimes in derbies. Chiefs scored the first goal from an overlap when we were sleeping but that was their only moment. We started to play football in the second half and get crosses in to put pressure on their defence. I think we deserved it and maybe even more than a draw."

The Dutchman, however, was less than impressed with the state of the pitch. Referee Jerome Damon twice had to halt play to effect emergency repairs during the contest.

"It was a disaster for both teams. A top match must have a top pitch and that wasn't the case today," he said.
