Dikwena bite Bucs again in cup final this year

JOHANNESBURG - Platinum Stars have beaten Orlando Pirates again.

Stars beat the Sea Robbers 2-1 on Saturday night at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.

Dikwena won the Telkom Knockout trophy and walked away with R4.25 million.

Robert Ng’ambi had an early shot on target, bringing the ball down nicely in the area after being set up by Henrico Botes, but the Malawian popped his shot just over the bar.

Ngele then put Dikwena in front for the first time in the match, after some fantastic work from Mbatha, who held off his marker to cut-back for Ngele, who placed his shot into the top corner, giving Meyiwa no chance.

Stars had the edge over Pirates in the first half, but failed to convert their chances – although each side had just two shots on target in the first 45 minutes.

The Bucs captain Lucky Lekgwathi scored the goal for Pirates.

Dikwena beat the Bucs in the MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on 29 September.
