Control
The contest started slowly but the experience of the Banyana Banyana team began to show the longer it progressed. After taking control of the game, South Africa gained momentum and began to rattle a shaky Mozambican defence.
Silindile Ngubane broke the deadlock with a goal in the 37th minute and from then on it was one-way traffic as Mkhonza's charges turned on the heat in emphatic fashion.
The Sasol-sponsored side was all over the visitors after the opener and it was only a question of time before more goals were scored. Enjoying the Banyana Banyana display, the crowd responded with song and dance.
Half-time
At the break, the hosts had the upper hand and led 1-0. After the break, the flood gates opened.
Picking up from where they had left off in the first half, the South African ladies needed just three minutes into the second half to net double their lead. It came courtesy of the unfortunate Celia Uate, who put the ball in her own net.
Former national captain Amanda Dlamini was all but unstoppable and a constant thorn in the Mozambican flesh as she controlled the game with great aplomb from the midfield and it was her wonderful run down the right flank that resulted in Ngubane slotting her second and Banyana's third goal of the match.
Dlamini was once again instrumental in South Africa's fourth goal. This time Nocawe Sikiti latched on to a well-timed Dlamini pass to chip the ball into the net and make it 4-0.
Diski Queen
Capping an inspired performance, Dlamini struck a goal of her own to seal a memorable 5-0 victory for the hosts. It was no surprise when she was named the Diski Queen of the game for her instrumental role in the victory.
"I felt my performance on the field was fine, but I could have done better as there is always room for improvement," she said.
"The coaches have once again put their confidence in me and it is very humbling that I got to play my own game."
