The South African Football Association will soon be announcing its new chief executive. Acting chief operations officer Dennis Mumble is earmarked to replace Robin Petersen as head of SAFA. This decision was taken by SAFA's national executive committee yesterday.

This new initiative will be driven by Petersen who was also tasked to unveil it to the South African business sector shortly before the Nelson Mandela Challenge match at the FNB Stadium.
It encompasses the SAFA Development Agency which will be used as a vehicle to deliver the master plan. "This is a very powerful vision that we have to make sure we can get the funding for that, we can get the implementation thereof and I am going to be here to make sure that happens," Petersen said.
SAFA needs at least R250 million per annum to implement the turnaround strategy. “He's been given the task to run with this project that he had presented to us at our NEC today (Thursday), members were very excited about that and gave him the task to say let's see how you can set up this process,” said SAFA President, Kirsten Nematandani.
The main aim of the plan is to get all national teams ranked among the top 3 on the continent and top 20 in the world within the next 10 years.
