Mamelodi Sundowns defender Punch Masenamela says Teko Modise is better than ever - leading some of the club's supporters to give the much-maligned midfielder a new nickname.
Masenamela also revealed that the abundance of talent in the squad bodes well for next season as it has created a healthy competition for places within the side.
He told the club's official website: "We have quality players competing in every position and that brings out the best in everybody.
"There is a culture of wanting to be the best and that you can sense from the president down and second best is not an options.
"The pre-season was awesome as it has brought the spark back to many players and there is a renewed energy amongst the players.
"We got to understand what the coach wants from us and we now understand his methods.
Modise, who was given the moniker, the navigator for his ability to control play has begun to inspire fans after a number of below par season.
Masenamela added: "I had some supporters now calling Teko 'Google earth' as they say he is better than he has ever been which is good for both him and the club.
"We want to live up to our potential this season and bring silverware to Tshwane.
Sundowns play Bloemfontein Celtic in the MTN8 at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Saturday.
