His charges laboured to a 2-1 win over an obdurate Platinum Stars at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on Sunday.
"We are not scoring enough," lamented the bespectacled Dutchman, "and this will not be good for us in a situation where the league winners will be decided on goal difference.
"Our position on top of the log is not guaranteed, looking at the composition of the log. We must get nine points from our three remaining matches. We need to win them comprehensively to put matters beyond the reach of other teams who are challenging for the league title. It will be back to serious business at training because we can't afford to rest on our laurels. We are not getting carried away by the fact that we are back on top because we still have three matches to play."
Pirates are neck and neck with Ajax Cape Town on top of the log, only shading the Cape side marginally on goal difference.
Krol's wariness is understandable, given Ajax's recent goal appetite, though their rearguard can be benign sometimes. They allowed Mamelodi Sundowns to come from a 4-1 deficit to force a 4-all stalemate. But they were rock solid in their 3-0 rout of Krol's side on March 16.
The Urban Warriors scored three and conceded one against Lamontville Golden Arrows on Friday night to lead the standings, albeit temporarily.
With Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs also winning, football fans should expect a jaw-dropping run-in.
