Siyabonga Nomvete (Gallo)
Johannesburg - Moroka Swallows striker Siyabonga Nomvete admits it was a huge setback when he was dropped from the national team, but he has vowed to bounce back.
'Bhele' was overlooked by new Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane for the 1-0 win against Ghana at Soccer City last Wednesday.
"I was disappointed, because I was in the World Cup squad and now I missed out, but I want to get back to the national team and my plan is to make sure that I continue where I left off last season," he told Football365.co.za.
"I want to play for the national team. I have always wanted to play for the national team and when I'm given an opportunity again I will make sure I don't disappoint, but my focus now is to help Swallows do well this season and we will worry about getting a call-up later."
Swallows face reigning PSL champions SuperSport United on Saturday in an MTN8 quarter-final match and Nomvete has predicted an early exit for the Tshwane club.
"We respect them because in my opinion they are a big team," added the 32-year-old, who scored six goals in 16 league starts for the Dube Birds last season.
"They won the league title three times in a row but when we play against them we must show the people that we really need to win the game and I think we will be ready for them. I think it is a game we can win.
"We need to work hard against SuperSport. We are not scared of them, because we are in the same level. We have to focus and fight and we have a good opportunity that we are playing at Dobsonville Stadium and I think maybe that can work to our advantage."
