Sundowns price star striker Mphela out the market
By MAZOLA MOLEFE
Mamelodi Sundowns are determined to keep Bafana striker Katlego Mphela at the club and have refused an improved offer of R14-million for the player.
Russian club Terek Grozny doubled their original offer for Mphela on Tuesday.

Sundowns have continued to price Mphela out of the transfer market. The player's agent, Steven Kapeluschnik, said he had run out of ideas to get him playing abroad.
"I went back to the club [in Russia] for an improved offer for Mphela, but on Tuesday Sundowns rejected the improved offer, which might be some sort of a record for a South African club to be offered R14-million.
"They have failed to discuss why they can't accept the offer and it looks like Mphela will be playing in the PSL this season," he said.
Mphela, who has scored 17 goals in 36 matches for Bafana, was also on the wish list of Scottish club Glasgow Rangers and English Premier League outfit Birmingham City. Negotiations came to nothing.
The interest in Mphela is a result of the 25-year-old's impressive performances for both Bafana and Sundowns.
He scored 17 goals in the PSL last season and finished as the league's top marksman.
On Sunday, he was voted Sundowns' player of the season.
According to transfer-market analysts, Mphela is valued at R13.5-million. That means Terek Gronzny's offer is generous.
That it has been turned down is good news for coach Antonio Lopez Habas, who has said he will only dip into the transfer market for a new striker should Mphela leave.
