Khompela view of the Nedbank loss

Steve Komphela feels Orlando Pirates had no answer to Kaizer Chiefs' movement and passing for most of the match, and that his players only committed two mistakes.

The Buccaneers beat Amakhosi 2-0 in a Nedbank Cup last 32 match, with Tendai Ndoro netting both goals. However, Komphela feels his side had the better of the clash.

"I don't know whether I should give my thoughts or feelings… Very difficult match in that it was not a true reflection of the outcome," he told SuperSport after the match.

"We had a great first half, we had a good match in the second half, we created more chances, but then you go on and lose a match like that. There are no explanations you can make … you must just take it.

"I personally would say 'okay, we messed up'. We should have done better in taking those chances. Coaches will stand here and say what do we do when they miss like that? You don't say that, you take it and say we need to improve."

Komphela feels that, despite the scoreline, Pirates struggled to cope with Chiefs for most of the day.

"I thought for the better part of the match they had no solution to our movement, our passing of the ball, the rotation, the retention," he added.

"The only two errors we commited – the first was Ndoro … unmonitored and unmarked, and the second the free-kick. Those were the only two mistakes we committed the whole match and you pay the price."
