Goals from Bongani Ndulula and Tokelo Rantie secured a 2-0 win for South Africa at the Stade Municipal in Pointe-Noire.

The victory saw Bafana Bafana move to the top of Group A after three rounds of qualifiers.

Speaking after the win, Mashaba said it's important for his players to remain focused on the job at hand.

"A great result but we must firmly remain rooted on the ground, another win in Polokwane on Wednesday," said the South African coach, referring to the return fixture against Congo in Polokwane next week.

Mashaba made three changes to the team that earned a credible goalless draw against Nigeria in Cape Town last month.

Ajax Cape Town defender Rivaldo Coetzee made his debut for the senior team having come through the youth structures under the guidance of Mashaba.

Coetzee became the senior national team's youngest ever representative at 17, beating a 15 record held by another defender, Aaron Mokoena.

Thulani Serero was also in the starting line-up, while Rantie partnered Ndulula in attack.

Bafana are yet to lose a game since Mashaba replaced Gordon Igesund as head coach in July.
