The South African women will be taking on the hosts in Lusaka, Zambia on Sunday.

"We know that Zambia is also preparing for the African Women's Championships. We haven't played them in a while, but we know that they will come out strong to test their readiness before the tournament," Van Wyk said on Friday.

"We need to continue with the hard work so that we can be well prepared come October."

Zambia will also be using the match as preparation to the AWC, a first time appearance for them.

The last time the two national teams met was in 2012 in the AWC return leg qualifier match, played at Kanyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit.

Banyana beat Zambia 2-1 with veteran striker Portia Modise netting the two goals.

With just over a month before they travel to Namibia, Van Wyk was confident the team would achieve their main objective, which is to finish in the top three and qualify for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup to be staged in Canada in June.
