"It's the biggest sport really, but people don't know that," Acedric Mastin, a Brazil fan exclaimed.

While it can be argued the U.S. doesn't see soccer as their first sport, the passion for it surged across San Diego Tuesday.

"It's so much fun," Leticia Desouza, smile.  Desouza is from Rio de Janiero and was excited to be united with so many other native Brazilians at PB Bar and Grill in Pacific Beach.

"I never thought there were so many Brazilians in California, San Diego; it's amazing."
While many Brazilians cheered on their team by the beach, Mexicans were eagerly rooting on their team at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Chula Vista.

"I expect Mexico to win by two to one," Magaly Juan, a Mexico fan smiled.

For Brazilians, there seemed to be more magic in the air, knowing the World Cup was being played out in their hometown.

"It only happens once in a lifetime in Brazil, like the world cup being there," said Pedro Freire, who is originally from Rio de Janiero .

With five record wins, Brazil is the only country to appear in all 20 World Cups.  Interestingly enough, Brazil won its third World Cup in Mexico back in 1970.  Something that kept a lot of Brazilian fans going during the game was the fact that they've never lost on their own soil.

"Brazil has got a way better team," Freire laughed.

"They've never lost on their soil, so we're going to win and see what happens," said Abe Botello.  "Hopefully the outcome is for Mexico," he smiled.

Both cultures clearly have a strong love for soccer; fans claim the two teams kick to different rhythms on the field.

"I think Mexico runs more with the ball and Brasil likes to change the pace and stop the ball and control it in the midfield," Rodrigo Ferreira, a Rio de Janiero native explained.

"We have the Mexican attitude," said Ernesto Camacho.  "We love to go hard and always win; no matter how big the challenge is, we always go out on our best," he said.

The game would end in a 0-0 tie.  Both teams received one point each toward the tournament standings and a chance for each to still advance to a World Cup win.
